Stopgap privacy policy

Effective date: October 1, 2026
Publisher: Trousdell Remodeling LLC, operating as St. Ledger Apps

Your work records belong to you. Stopgap keeps your ledger and location history on your device. There are no ads and no Stopgap account requirement.

Optional sharing, Android backup, speech recognition, trial eligibility and purchase verification are explained below.

Overview

Stopgap is an Android app for recording gig and side-work mileage, earnings, tips, bonuses, expenses, work time, payouts, tax-planning estimates, reports, backups and private destination notes. It is published by Trousdell Remodeling LLC, operating as St. Ledger Apps.

Stopgap does not require a Stopgap account. Your ledger, receipts, trip and location history, and saved destinations are processed on your device. We do not receive those records unless you choose to send them to us, for example in a support email. The app has no advertising SDK or developer analytics SDK.

Information used on your device

Depending on the features you choose, Stopgap processes work and financial records you enter; receipt files; vehicle information; tax-planning settings; notes and saved destinations; precise or approximate location samples; physical-activity signals used to detect vehicle travel; and settings and notifications that keep tracking visible and controllable.

These records support mileage detection and review, business summaries, reports, imports, exports, backups, and optional destination reminders. Stopgap does not connect to your bank account or automatically obtain earnings from a gig platform.

Location and activity permissions

Automatic Mileage uses location and physical-activity information to detect likely vehicle trips and measure distance. When you enable the feature and grant the required permissions, it can use location while the app is not on screen, your phone is locked, or the app is closed. Optional Watch List arrival reminders also use location to check proximity to destinations you save.

These uses are explained inside the app before the permission request. You can turn tracking and reminders off in Stopgap or change their permissions in Android settings. Turning off a feature does not erase your previously saved records.

Optional voice entry

If you choose voice entry, Stopgap uses the Android speech-recognition provider available on your phone. That provider may process audio on your device or through its own network service, depending on the provider and your settings. Stopgap receives the resulting text for the entry you are making and does not retain voice recordings.

You can use keyboard entry instead. The speech provider has its own privacy policy and controls.

Files, reports, imports and sharing

When you choose an import, export, print, share, backup or restore action, Stopgap processes the selected files for that action. Reports and backups can contain sensitive work, financial and location information. Review their contents before sharing.

A file can leave your phone through a destination you choose, such as an email app, printer service or cloud drive. Those destinations have their own privacy practices. We do not automatically upload your ledger or location history to a St. Ledger Apps cloud account.

Android backup and device transfer

Android may include eligible Stopgap ledger and app data in device backup or device transfer when you enable those operating-system features. These copies are controlled by Android and your Google account settings.

The encrypted Watch List location store is excluded from Android cloud backup and device transfer. Copies you deliberately export or back up yourself remain under your control.

Free-trial eligibility

Stopgap checks the original 14-day trial automatically over HTTPS. It sends a one-way digest of an Android identifier scoped to the app, device and Android user, together with the installation date. No name, email, advertising identifier, ledger, receipt, trip or location history is sent for this check.

Our Cloudflare service protects that digest again with a secret keyed hash and stores the resulting trial reference and original start date. It returns a digitally signed trial deadline for offline use. We retain this minimal eligibility record to prevent uninstalling, clearing app storage or reinstalling from granting another free trial on the same device and Android user. We do not use it for advertising or tracking activity.

A fresh installation needs a connection to check eligibility. The same original deadline applies after reinstalling; you keep any remaining time. Paid purchases can be restored through Google Play. Device changes, a factory reset, a different Android user or signing-key changes may create a different identifier.

To request deletion of trial-eligibility information, contact support@stledgerapps.com. We may retain a minimal eligibility record where needed to prevent repeated trial abuse, subject to applicable requirements. This does not give us a cloud copy of your work records.

Google Play purchases

Google Play processes app purchases and subscription payments under Google's terms and privacy policy. Stopgap does not receive your payment-card details. We may receive sales, refund, country, tax and financial reports from Google Play needed to operate the business.

When you buy or restore Pro, purchase verification may send the product identifier, purchase token and purchase status to our verification service and Google Play. We use that information to confirm access and handle renewals, expiry, refunds and restoration. This verification does not send your mileage, locations, receipts or ledger. It is not used for advertising.

Payment and purchase records may be retained as needed for support, refunds, fraud prevention and required business records. Canceling a subscription stops future renewals according to the terms shown by Google Play; it does not delete your saved Stopgap work records.

Support and the website

If you contact support@stledgerapps.com, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond, resolve the issue and maintain necessary support or business records. Send only the information needed for your request.

This website is hosted through Cloudflare, which processes network request information such as IP addresses and request metadata to deliver and protect the site. The site does not contain an advertising or analytics script. Google Workspace processes email we receive. These providers have their own privacy practices.

Sharing and sale of data

We do not sell your Stopgap records or provide your ledger, trip history, saved destinations or location history to advertisers, data brokers, gig platforms or insurance companies.

User-initiated sharing, Android backup, optional speech recognition, purchase verification and payment processing, website hosting and support correspondence are described above. We may provide information when required by law.

Retention and deletion

Your local records remain on your phone until you delete them using the app, restore a different backup, clear app storage or uninstall Stopgap. Existing records remain accessible when Pro ends. You control copies you export, share or back up elsewhere; deleting a record from Stopgap does not remove those copies.

We do not maintain a Stopgap cloud account containing your work records. To ask about deleting information you sent us for support, contact support@stledgerapps.com. Some purchase, transaction or correspondence records may need to be retained to meet applicable business or legal requirements.

Security

Stopgap stores its local ledger in Android app storage. Watch List location details use Android Keystore-backed encryption and are excluded from normal Android backup and transfer. Purchase verification uses encrypted HTTPS connections.

No storage method offers an absolute security guarantee. Protect your phone with a screen lock, keep Android updated and store exported records and backups carefully.

Children

Stopgap is intended for adults managing gig or side-work records and is not directed to children under 13.

Policy changes

We will update the effective date when this policy changes and reflect material changes in the app or store listing when required.
